In 1886, The Salvation Army Chinatown Corps in San Francisco opened in an area full of opium dens, gambling, drinking, brothels and child prostitution. Captain Fong Foo Sec sent a telegram declaring, “The first Chinese Salvation Army Corps is now an accomplished fact.” The first Chinese Salvation Army Corps in the world was in San Francisco. In 2011, just two years ago, they celebrated their 125th anniversary of service, Doing The Most Good!
