In 1973, Marlon Brando declines the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in “The Godfather”. Before this nomination, Brando starred in the 1955 musical film “Guys and Dolls” as Sky Masterson. This is one of the most famous films to depict The Salvation Army and its officers. In the film, The Salvation Army is referred to as ‘Save a Soul Mission’ with Jean Simmons as Sgt. Sarah Brown, Brando’s love interest.
