The Salvation Army hopes to raise $2.5 million through its best-known fundraiser
The Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign will be at hundreds of locations in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, and Ellis Counties. Many of those locations start well before Thanksgiving. The organization is working to secure more companies and churches to volunteer for full days this year. For their first time to participate, First Baptist Church of Arlington has stepped up to cover a red kettle site for 30 consecutive days. Other volunteers groups cover fewer days. One group covers the entire season – six days a week for six weeks.
Funds raised in the red kettles provide operating revenue for 15 Salvation Army centers across the Metroplex. While many people assume the funds are used only at Thanksgiving and Christmas time, money raised in the red kettles is stretched as far into the year as possible to fund year-round operations.
Friday, November 5 through Christmas Eve
