The Salvation Army Thankful For The Support Of BP

Jackson, MS (August 30, 2012) — The Salvation Army is most appreciative of oil giant BP’s donation to support relief efforts related to Isaac, which lashed Louisiana and Mississippi with flooding rains and wind.

The Salvation Army’s Major Ronnie Raymer stated, “We are truly grateful for BP’s support of Hurricane Isaac relief efforts. This gift will help The Salvation Army continue to meet the needs of both survivors and first responders in the affected communities.”

BP’s $1M donation will be made to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army and divided equally between the two hard-hit states. In addition the donation, BP says it’s also providing assistance to employees and their families in the region.

Since August 24, 2012, The Salvation Army has provided over 6,000 meals from its canteens in 10 locations in the Gulf Coast region. As flood waters recede across the region, The Salvation Army anticipates that demand for services will only increase as more pockets become accessible. In addition to feeding and hydration, The Salvation Army is also providing comfort kits, clean up kits, and emotional and spiritual care to survivors and first responders along the Gulf Coast.

“The Salvation Army remains committed to the ongoing response and meeting the needs of the residents affected by Hurricane Isaac,” Raymer added.
